Sensex, Nifty oscillate around flat line; PSU Bank shares decline
Oct 14,2026
The key equity benchmarks continued to trade with flat line in mid-morning trade, weighed down by elevated crude oil prices and weak global cues. The negative sentiment overshadowed the support from easing bond yields and a strengthening rupee. Investors remained focused on September-quarter corporate earnings, while the Nifty 50 hovered around the 22,700 level.

Elevated crude oil prices remained a key concern for equity investors, particularly given their potential implications for inflation, corporate input costs and India's import bill. Market participants will closely monitor global developments, foreign institutional investor (FII) flows, key US inflation data and upcoming corporate earnings announcements for further cues on market direction.

PSU Bank shares rebounded after advancing in the past trading session.

At 10:25 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex declined 21.39 points or 0.04% to 73,003.36. The Nifty 50 index shed 16.60 points or 0.07% to 22,705.35.

In the broader market , the Nifty Midcap 150 Index rose 0.06% and the BSE Smallcap 250 Index added 0.26%.

The market breadth was strong. On the BSE, 2,202 shares rose and 1,120 shares fell. A total of 92 shares were unchanged.

Brent crude futures climbed 52 cents or 0.52% to $106.21 a barrel amid concerns over supply disruptions following renewed fighting between Saudi Arabia and Yemen's Houthi rebels.
