The Union Cabinet has endorsed the ‘Viksit Bharat Initiative for Statistical Transformation, Analytics & Research (VISTAR)’ Scheme, spanning fiscal years 2026-27 to 2030-31, with a budgetary allocation of Rs. 4,371.10 crore. In line with the overarching goal of Viksit Bharat 2047, the VISTAR Scheme is structured to build a responsive, real-time statistical framework, incorporating enhanced timeliness, data granularity, and interoperability with harmonized and AI-ready datasets. The VISTAR scheme affords strategic resource allocation predicated on emergent policy requirements, facilitating a comprehensive approach to large-scale survey implementation, methodological research, digital modernization, and national data governance. Encompassing all statistical and data management functions of MoSPI, the VISTAR Scheme will be instrumental in modernizing the nation’s official statistical system.
