Previous metals lose shine as Dollar climbs
08-Oct-26   17:04 Hrs IST
Gold remained proximate to $4,150 per ounce, while silver futures declined nearly 2% to $59.25 an ounce on Thursday, as a resilient dollar and hawkish Federal Reserve sentiment constrained advances. Minutes from the September FOMC meeting indicated unanimous support from all 19 policymakers for the rate increase, with a majority anticipating additional hikes before the year's conclusion. The dollar index maintained a position above 102, approaching its strongest level since April 2025, underpinned by safe-haven inflows influenced by US-Iran geopolitical risks and elevated crude prices. Market participants are presently anticipating the release of US weekly jobless claims data for insights into the labor market. On MCX, December gold futures were valued near Rs 1,49,400 per 10 grams, exhibiting a 0.2% increase, whereas silver futures retreated to a low of Rs 2,20,418 per kg, mirroring the same macroeconomic pressures.
