Nikkei slips as bond yields worry

Japan’s Nikkei 225 fell 0.3% to close at 66,016 on Friday, affected by rising global bond yields. The 10-year US Treasury yield increased to about 4.7%, and Japan’s 10-year bond yield also rose, causing investor caution regarding US debt buybacks and their impact on borrowing costs. Japan’s inflation grew for the second month, raising expectations of a possible interest rate hike by the Bank of Japan. The week saw a total decline of 3.93% in the Nikkei, breaking a two-week winning streak.
