The key equity barometers traded with slight losses in morning trades. Nifty moved in a range of 22611-22508. Nifty IT, Nifty Private Bank and Nifty Bank shares advanced, while Nifty Auto and Nifty Media shares declined.

At 10:45 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, 5.17 points to 72,475.12. The Nifty 50 index down 39.50 points to 22,580.95.

The broader market performed better than frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index edged lower by 0.41% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index moved lower by 0.54%.

The market breadth was negative. On the BSE, 1866 shares gained and 2743 shares fell. A total of 241 shares were unchanged.

Nifty IT index rose 1.85% to 28217. The index has plunged 11.18% in last one month and registered heavy losses of 17.68% over last one year. Mphasis, up 4.27%, led the gainers followed by Coforge, inching higher 3.31% and Infosys, gaining 2.31%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 9 are reporting gains today.

Nifty Private Bank index advanced 1.30% to 27044. The index has eased by 4.68% in last one month and inched up 0.88% over last one year. Kotak Mah. Bank, adding 4.09%, led the gainers followed by RBL Bank, edging up 2.25% and Bandhan Bank, up 0.90%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 8 are reporting gains today.

Nifty Auto index fell 2.57%. The index has fallen 8.83% in last one month and inched down 0.94% over last one year. Bajaj Auto, shedding 7.59%, led the losers followed by Uno Minda, down 3.35% and Eicher Motors, easing 3.28%, respectively. Out of 15 index constituents, 14 are reporting loss today.

Sectoral performance is mixed, with 7 of 14 indices trading in the green. Nifty IT index has slumped 11.18% in last one month and is sharply lower by 17.68% over last year. Nifty Auto index has registered heavy losses of 8.83% in last one month and is down 0.94% over last one year.

From NIFTY50 index, Vodafone Idea, Eternal AND Yes Bank are leading in terms of volumes today, clocking turnover of 1296.22 lakh shares, 14280.84 lakh shares and 579.19 lakh shares respectively.

Asian markets rallied on Thursday. China’s Shanghai composite is up 0.31%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is marginally lower by 0.12%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is significantly higher by 3.07%.

NIFTY50 Oct-26 futures are in discount of 69.05 points today.
