Japan Stocks extend rally
17-Sep-26   16:39 Hrs IST
Japanese equities maintained their upward trajectory on Thursday, as the Nikkei 225 advanced 0.33% to 64,136 and the Topix increased 0.8% to 4,094.

The advance followed the US Federal Reserve’s anticipated interest rate increase, accompanied by indications of additional monetary policy adjustments intended to curb inflation. The yen depreciated versus the US dollar in the wake of the decision, bolstering the prospects for Japanese exporting companies.

Declining crude prices bolstered market sentiment amid expectations for the imminent resumption of flows through Saudi Arabia’s East-West pipeline. This development alleviated apprehensions surrounding elevated energy expenses for Japan, a nation significantly dependent on imported petroleum.

Advancements were widespread, evidenced by a 1% increase for SoftBank Group, with Fujikura and Lasertec both advancing 0.6%, as Mitsubishi Heavy Industries surged 4% and Nintendo appreciated 4.3%.
