At close of trade, the benchmark Shanghai Composite index added 0.49%, or 15.83 points, to 3,213.59. The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, fell 0.15%, or 2.95 points, to 1,992.33. The blue-chip CSI300 index added 0.81%, or 30.85 points, to 3,820.19.
CURRENCY NEWS: China's yuan depreciated to its weakest in six months against the dollar on Thursday, as softer official guidance fixing and the disappointing export data. Prior to market opening, the People's Bank of China set the midpoint rate CNY=PBOC at a fresh six-month low of 7.1280 per dollar, 84 pips weaker than the previous fix of 7.1196. In the spot market, the yuan CNY=CFXS was changing hands at 7.1392, 52 pips softer than the previous late session close.
