Bulgaria adopts the Euro, becomes 21st member of Euro area

Bulgaria has officially joined the euro zone, replacing its original currency Lev with the Euro and becoming the currency bloc's 21st member. This effectively means that over 350 million Europeans are now using single currency. The last country to join the single currency group was Croatia in January 2023.
